Trevor is looking forward to supporting our legislative work and even more, is looking to get out into the field to meet staff and members.

Kate’s professional background is in management consulting, with a specialization in state government. Her expertise spans adult learning and education, workforce development, and project management. She has also worked for a regional land trust, where she collaborated across the public, private, and academic sectors to build conservation coalitions and to support forest landowners in achieving their ecological goals. She has conducted independent research on the relationship between thru-hikers and social media and written publications to support community conservation efforts.
Outside of work, Kate is interested in urban reforestation, roller blading, teaching personal finance courses for AmeriCorps members, and loves reading good books in beautiful places. She is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Tony grew up in a small town and has always loved the outdoors. He was blessed to participate in many activities in the community until going off to college. He graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor's degree in Accounting. After graduating from Utah State he started his career at Enterprise Rent-A-Car while continuing his education to get a MBA from Westminster College.
While growing in his career, he also worked for Cargill Inc., Squire and Associates CPA's, and recently Recyclops, a recycling start up. He enjoys mentoring others and also spending time with his family.

Scott Springer currently serves as a Supervisory Natural Resource Specialist and Regional Realty Officer with the US Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, at the California-Great Basin Region, in Sacramento, CA. The disciplines under his supervision include realty, land and water uses, outdoor recreation, wildland fire and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) since 2015.Â
Scott has also served 7 years as the Regional Outdoor Recreation Planner at the California-Great Basin Regional Office of Reclamation, where he provided advice and assistance to the Area Offices regarding recreation issues, policy guidance and partnership development beginning in 2008.
Wendy Berhman

Wendy Berhman is a nationally recognized planning and public lands professional with more than three decades of leadership in the National Park Service (NPS). A certified planner with the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), she brings extensive expertise in park planning, public engagement, cultural and natural resource stewardship, commercial services, and collaborative partnerships. Wendy has held leadership roles at NPS park, regional, and national levels, including Superintendent of Manhattan Project National Historical Park (NHP) and Senior-Level Planner focusing on visitor use management and commercial services planning for national parks across the nation.
Throughout her career, Wendy has championed visitor experience, civic participation, and strategic planning including the “Days of Peace & Remembrance†commemorations for Manhattan Project NHP, leading efforts to support parks in developing comprehensive strategic plans, and facilitating innovative virtual programs to broaden public access to park resources and experiences. Her experience managing complex partnerships—including interagency collaboration with the Department of Energy, NPS gateway communities and engagement with over 25 Tribal Nations—demonstrates her ability to bridge diverse perspectives and achieve shared preservation and conservation goals.
With a Bachelor of Architecture emphasis on historic preservation, and a Master’s in Urban & Environmental Planning, Wendy has a layered academic foundation. Her strategic insight is grounded in field-tested knowledge of park management, environmental planning, policy application, with an emphasis on sustainable recreation and tourism. She has managed multimillion-dollar planning portfolios, designed stakeholder engagement processes, and developed NPS national policy and guidance on visitor use management and wilderness stewardship. Wendy brings a seasoned holistic and creative approach to public land management and stewardship.
She is passionate about developing the next generation of conservation leaders to support federal agencies in managing public lands. Wendy welcomes the opportunity to contribute her vision, experience, and commitment to service on the ACE Board.
Robert (Bob) Coates

Bob Coates is the Associate Director for Co-Curricular Programs for the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Public Policy at Dartmouth College. His areas of responsibility include the Rockefeller Public Policy Internship program, and leadership programs.
Bob's background is in outdoor leadership and conservation-service experiences for youth and young-adults, having created residential AmeriCorps national service programs for the Student Conservation Association and the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps. He served in the United States Army National Guard and Reserve and as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cameroon, West Africa.
 Bob graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a BA in Political Science and holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He currently serves on the Town of Pomfret, Vermont's Trustees of Public Funds. He is a leader in Scouting America Troop 220 in Woodstock and enjoys outdoor pursuits with his family in South Pomfret, Vermont. He has been a member of the ACE Board since 2019.

Jeanne Wade Evans

Jeanne Wade Evans is a leadership advisor who draws on over four decades of environmental resource management in the U.S. Forest Service. Her background in conservation and organizational leadership includes experience at local, regional, national, and global levels. She has directed State and Private Forestry Programs in California, Hawaii and the U.S. Pacific Islands and strategically led Fire, Aviation, Safety and Acquisition programs affecting 18 National Forests, 20 million acres, 8000 employees with annual budgets of over $500 million. Her experience at the national headquarters in Washington DC focused on solving many complex natural resource issues affecting the entire organization across the country. Some of her most satisfying accomplishments involve working with partners to leverage resources and reach mutual outcomes, mentoring new leaders, diversifying organizational talent, and connecting the American people with their public land legacy.
Her focus on justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion resulted in the creation of an Urban Conservation Corps in Southern California and increased women’s participation in Wildland Fire. Her collaborative leadership approach resulted in broad ecological restoration efforts involving private businesses and federal partners in several states. As the agency representative with the White House Council on Environmental Quality, she fostered cooperative conservation efforts across the country.
Jeanne received her B.S. in Environmental Resources from Arizona State University, completed graduate work at University of Arizona, and is a graduate of the Senior Executive Fellows Program at Harvard. Jeanne has been on the Board of American Conservation Experience since 2019 and is excited about her role as Chair of the Board.
Jeanne has been connected to the outdoors since she was a young girl camping and fishing in the Rocky Mountains with her family. She currently resides in Tucson, Arizona with her family and enjoys exploring the Sonoran Desert with the next generation.
Jennifer Eberlien

Jennifer is an experienced executive with a background in strategic governance, organizational development, and mission-driven work. Starting as an entry-level, field-going archeologist, Jennifer worked in a variety of field level and management positions across the country with the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management. Retiring as the Pacific Southwest Regional Forester, Jennifer was responsible for leading large, cross-functional organizations through sustained disruption, wildfire risk, climate pressure, and public accountability while delivering measurable outcomes in forest health, public safety, and partner investment.
Jennifer brings experience working with boards and senior leadership to guide organizations through complex operational, financial, and strategic decisions with a focus on aligning organizational sustainability with long-term mission impact. Her key strengths include data-informed decision-making; transformational change; cross-sector partner engagement; public policy development and implementation; large-scale program and portfolio leadership; and coaching, talent, and employee development.Â
Jennifer’s formal education includes a B.A. (University of Minnesota) and an M.A. (Northern Arizona University) in Anthropology with a focus on archeology. She started with the U.S. Forest Service as a cooperative student, a program like ACE’s EPIC internship. Jennifer’s career progressed through a variety of recreation and management positions throughout the country including Wisconsin, Montana, Utah, Washington D.C., Oregon, Washington, Colorado and California.Â
After spending 33 years in the public service sector, Jennifer continues to be deeply committed to environmental stewardship and public lands conservation and are drawn to American Conservation Experience’s emphasis on service, workforce development, and community benefit. Jennifer approaches board service with a strong sense of fiduciary responsibility, collaborative leadership, and dedication to strengthening nonprofit effectiveness.

Katie Shea

Katie’s journey with ACE began following her graduation from the Indigenous Peoples Law program at the University of Oklahoma. Thanks to the Cultural Resources Diversity Internship Program, Katie was able to pursue her dreams of promoting cultural understanding of Tribal Nations in the National Park System. Her experience with Redwood National Park and Office of Native American Affairs (IR-1) would not have been possible without CRDIP; and is what led her to her current role in the National Parks Conservation Association today.
Katie’s passion for connection and community is the root of all her endeavors and is what she looks forward to most in serving ACE as a proud alumna.
Rahul Shendure

Rahul has spent most of his 25-year career commercializing climate-tech innovations including fuel cells (product management at Ballard Power Systems), renewable fuels and chemicals (first business hire / VP, Product Marketing at Amyris), ocean energy (Board Chair and Founding CEO of Oscilla Power) and low-carbon concrete (Founding CEO of CarbonBuilt). Bellwether Bio, a cancer diagnostics company he co-founded in 2016, developed technology that is integrated into the world's first blood-based colorectal cancer test. Beyond his own ventures, Rahul is also an investor in more than 40 early stage climate-tech and health-tech companies. He earned a BS in Chemical Engineering from MIT and his MBA from Harvard. Rahul serves on the board of the Composite Recycling Technology Center, a non-profit company based in the Olympic Peninsula.
A longtime resident of Seattle, Washington, Rahul and his wife Erika are soon to be empty-nesters with two "kids" in college. Rahul enjoys backpacking, international travel, alpine skiing, live music and hanging out with his Australian Mountain Doodle, Remi.

Laura Herrin joined ACE in 2018 as President and CEO. In the time since joining, ACE has grown in size and stature and is recognized as one of the nation’s premiere conservation corps. Laura has introduced three pillars to ACE as the organization strives to be the Program, Partner and Workplace of Choice. Over 20 years, ACE has developed signature programs and worked on a variety of projects in all 50 states and several US Territories.
Laura has a long tenure working in the conservation corps arena. Prior to her role at ACE, she served fifteen years with the Student Conservation Association, ultimately as its Senior Vice president for Program. During her time at SCA Laura wore many hats including program and partnership development and implementation, risk management and safety, innovation and organizational growth.
Additionally, Laura has a strong connection with The Corps Network. As a board and member, Laura was part of the CEO hiring team. Laura has served as the chair of the Corps Council and currently serves on the council in ‘round 2’. Additionally Laura worked directly with The Corps Network supporting fund development and partnerships.
Laura holds a bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College (MA) and a Master’s degree in Organizational Management and Leadership. She is a certified black belt in Innovation Engineering.

Laura Craig

Laura Craig is the President and Chief Financial Operations Officer (CFOO) of American Conservation Experience (ACE), where she helps lead organizational excellence and strategic planning while overseeing accounting, finance, IT, compliance, and risk management. Her leadership supports ACE’s mission to empower the next generation of conservation leaders through meaningful service on public lands across the United States.
Laura joined ACE as Chief Financial Officer in 2022 and quickly became a key architect of the organization’s modernization and growth, helping guide ACE from $27M to more than $48M in annual operations. She was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2023, appointed President in 2024, and in 2025 transitioned into the role of President/CFOO. Her tenure has strengthened internal controls, improved financial sustainability, enhanced national partnerships, and advanced the systems and infrastructure needed to support ACE’s expanding impact.
With more than two decades of nonprofit executive experience, Laura has led several organizations nationwide varying in size, scope and mission, through financial and operational strategy across conservation, education, community development, and youth‑serving sectors. She has strengthened financial sustainability, modernized systems, and built the operational capacity needed to support community impact. While living in Montana, she also served for seven years as an adjunct professor of accounting and business at Great Falls College–Montana State University, sharing her knowledge and expertise with the next generation. Her background includes oversight of multimillion‑dollar budgets, federal and state grants, A‑133 audits, NICRA negotiations, systems modernization, and organization‑wide operational leadership. She holds a Master of Science in Community Economic Development, a Master of Science in Accountancy, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Finance), and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Accounting.
Laura is committed to continuous learning and executive excellence. She has completed a wide range of executive certifications focused on nonprofit governance, leadership, and strategic communication, including the Nonprofit Management Institute (NPMI) through the North Carolina Center for Nonprofits; The Executive's Guide to Entrepreneurial Strategy: Developing the Mindset and Mechanisms for Innovation; Leading and Scaling Human‑Centered AI Adoption; the AI‑Powered Executive Toolkit; Speak with Power: Advanced Storytelling and Presentation Skills for Leaders; From Executive to Nonprofit Board Member: A Pathway to High‑Impact Board Leadership; and The Emotionally Savvy Executive: Cultivating Leadership and Your Personal Brand. In 2025, she joined the Board of Directors of the Owl Research Institute (ORI), deepening her engagement in conservation, wildlife science, and mission‑driven leadership.
A lifelong advocate for youth development, conservation, and access to the outdoors, Laura grew up exploring creeks, climbing trees, and visiting state parks throughout the Southeast, later expanding her love of nature through travels to national parks across the country. She spent 13 years in Montana and two years in Washington State before returning to North Carolina, where she now lives on 18 acres in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Parkway. She finds joy in hiking, walking along the beach, and spending time in the natural landscapes that have shaped her personal and professional journey.

Jenn brings over 20 years of youth development, conservation, and partnership experience to the role of Chief Partnership & Strategy Officer at ACE. She is passionate about systematically dismantling barriers to participation and enjoyment of the outdoors while also building inclusive and safe outdoor programming for youth and young adults. Outside of work, Jenn enjoys hiking, camping, and kayaking with her family; volunteers with several environmental and youth-focused organizations; and is never without a good book or three.

George Grygar

George Grygar joined ACE in 2017, where he has been the National US Forest Service Division Director, Sr Director of Program Operations, ACE Chief of Staff, and is now Chief Program Officer. George oversees a robust Program department with over 100 employees, 1,300 annual member participants and operations in all 50 states and many US territories. George holds a BS in Business Management and an MS in Natural Resource Management, as well as a Non-Profit Management Certificate.Â
Prior to joining ACE, George worked in finance, youth development, homeless resources and education fields and was most recently the Director of Programs & Operations at the Cottonwood Canyons Foundation, a trails, restoration and environmental education focused non-profit in the Salt Lake City area.Â
George is passionate about working collaboratively to solve problems and streamline operations so that staff and organizations can reach their full potential. Outside of ACE, George serves as Board Chair for Tree Utah, and as a member (former Chair) with the Utah Trails Forum, as well as being an avid explorer of outdoor spaces.
